Ban Veena Malik, IAAF writes to Home Minister

Posted by IndiaNewsInfo.com on December 2, 2011

The Indian Actors and Artistes Forum (IAAF) has called for a ban on Veena Malik for her cheap antics at getting free publicity. The latest publicity stunt is her denial of a nude cover shoot for the Indian edition of international men’s magazine FHM. However, editor of FHM Kabeer Sharma insists that they have a video of the photo shoot and Veena Malik’s claims are false. Even a Times of India report claims that Veena Malik indeed did pose nude. As reported in the Pakistani media, Veena Malik has posed nude for other Pakistani publications as well in the past and the FHM India cover is obviously not her first time. The website of FHM meanwhile seems to have been suspended or shut down.

Several members and supporters of the IAAF including veteran actress Poonam Dasgupta, fashion designer Umair Zafar, BJP spokesperson Shaina NC, TV actress Smriti Irani, Congress MP Nilesh Rane, and MLA Krishna Hegde to name a few have criticized the level to which TV channels have stooped to gain TRPs – referring to porn star Sunny Leone in Bigg Boss on Colors and the reported news that Veena Malik has been signed on by Imagine for Veena Malik ka Swayamvar. Says spokesperson for the IAAF, Flynn Remedios, “About 350 members of the IAAF have signed a petition addressed to the Home Minister and the Home Ministry, Government of India pleading that Veena Malik’s work permit be revoked.  Why do we have to import such trash in India from outside when we have so much talent in our own country.”

The IAAF has launched a protest on their Facebook page facebook.com/Indian.Artistes.Forum and is in the process of enlisting support online.

Veteran actress Poonam Dasgupta Luthra speaking about Veena Malik said, “I was aghast to read about the killing of Hindus in Pakistan and Veena Malik’s swayamvar drama on the same page of the newspaper. The first thing I can’t tolerate is why we should encourage people from an unfriendly country that export terrorism to India to work here? Also we have the best of beauty and talent in India which is recognized around the world and there is no reason to entertain a Veena Malik who has nothing special to offer. Veena comes from a country where such swayamvar-type drams are taboo. Is India a dust bin where shallow people without character come to dump their stunts? Veena Malik is nothing but trash. She is a cheap, shallow woman who will pose nude at the drop of a hat or even sleep around for work and we are welcoming such trash from abroad with open arms. It is a crying shame and a slap on the face of Indian talent.”
