Well-known ramp model Natasha Sikka shot with designer label brand Randell Gomes for an Indian wear collection. Randell Gomes has launched three different ranges – the first is a high-end couture bridal collection, the second is a pret line and the third is a casual wear party line. Speaking to content agency Newz66.com, Randell Gomes said, “The couture bridal line is very exclusive and only a few pieces are hand made and hand embroidered and available in a very limited edition. They are priced between Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh and they are personally signed by Randell Gomes. The pret line and the casual wear party line are for the masses and are available all over India. The collection includes various fabrics like Cottons, Silks, Chiffon, Georgette, etc. There is also a signature line within the pret collection that is fabricated with hand loom hand-made Khadi and is a priced accordingly.”

The theme and concept of designer Randell Gomes Indo-Western Summer Collection 2014 is “Affordable, Wearable & Comfortable Fashion for Women of all Sizes and Shapes”. Says Randell Gomes, “For most people fashion is either very expensive or inconvenient or uncomfortable. And that is what is unfortunately portrayed at the fashion weeks and at fashion shows. For me, fashion is affordable, wearable and comfortable and yet fashionable,”  Gomes told Newz66.com. Randell Gomes who was born in Goa but grew up at Dhobi Talao near the CST Railway Station and was fascinated by the variety and color of clothes available very cheaply on Fashion Street. Says Randell Gomes, “My sisters would go to Fashion Street every weekend. When I was a student at St Xaviers college, we would visit Fashion Street to buy bermudas, shorts and T -shirts which were available for as little as Rs 30 per piece. It was simply fabulous. Most of the stuff available at Fashion Street were export rejects and some of them were re-cycled clothes. But the joy we experienced getting an outfit within our limited budget was tremendous. At that time, shopping was fun and a great pleasure. With my new range of pret outfits for men and women, I want to make cheap fashionable clothes available for everyone.

Mumbai-based model and actress Natasha Sikka needs no introduction. A veteran ramp model who has been modeling for the last ten years and has acted in several lesser-known films and done hundreds of catalog shoots. She was in the news recently for a hot lesbian photo shoot with model and actress Yasmin Khan supporting gay rights.

Indo-American model Yasmeen Khan in Bigg Boss 7?

If the Bigg Boss 7 grapevine is to be believed, Salman Khan’s “New York friend” model and Yasmeen Khan is likely to be in Bigg Boss 7. According to reliable sources, Yasmeen Khan who used to shuttle between New York, Mumbai and Delhi for modeling assignments has shifted base to Mumbai lock, stock and barrel with family and even purchased a flat in suburban Mumbai. 22-year-old Yasmeen who harbors acting dreams and wants to one day take up acting as a serious career option is also a “good friend” of Bollywood Badshah Salman Khan. The two have occasionally been in touch on SMS and mail and it is rumored that Salman Khan probably put in a good word for Yasmeen enabling her to get on India’s most popular reality show. However, as expected the channel wouldn’t confirm anything.

Yasmeen refused to speak to the media and said she cannot comment on media speculation or media reports. Apparently, a prominent TV channel recently ran a news report on Bigg Boss 7 and mentioned her name as one of the probable participants. “All I can say is I really wonder where you mediawallas get all this gossip from,” said Yasmeen with a twinkle in her eyes.

Some places have a very distinct identity, but many places today include entertainment – a DJ, dance shows, special shows, etc and that makes it more like food and entertainment rather than just plain and simple fine dining.”

Veer Shivaji wins the prestigious “Jijao Puraskar”

Mumbai, January 17, 2012: In under a span of 5 months, COLORS’ first historical epic show Veer Shivaji on popular demand was felicitated with the “Jijao Puraskar” an Award function organized by the “Maharashtra Seva Sang” on the birthday of Jijabai.

An award function that is attended by over four lakh people, this esteemed award was given to COLORS’ Veer Shivaji for bringing back to life the story of the Maratha warrior for the new generation. Sunny Leone turns down Mahesh Bhatt’s film Jism 2

According to reliable sources adult porn star and participant in Bigg Boss, Season 5 on Colors, Sunny Leone has turned down Mahesh Bhatt’s film offer citing contractual obligations and unavailability of dates due to prior commitments in the US and Canada. However, the real reason is the ‘meager remuneration’ offered to the porn star, according to a close confidante of Sunny Leone.

Sources told AsiaWire that Sunny Leone is not comfortable shooting in India and requested Bhatt’s production house, FishEye Network to shoot her portion of the film in the US. She also quoted a fee of Rs 3 crore for a ten day shoot, a figure that the Bhatt’s are unwilling to pay her.

A reported earlier though father-and-daughter duo Mahesh and Pooja Bhatt would love to have Sunny Leone shed her clothes for the opening scene of their forthcoming sequel to the 2003 hit erotic thriller Jism, Sunny Leone had privately expressed her displeasure to a few close aides.

The 2003 film starred John and Bipasha, but this time with much fanfare Mahesh Bhatt walked into the Bigg Boss house to “offer” Sunny Leone the role.  The adult porn star though in her heart of hearts is not impressed. Said a source close to Sunny Leone on condition of anonymity, “Privately, Sunny is not very happy with the role. She has had enough of nudity to last not just one lifetime but several lifetimes. Her life in Canada and the US is different. In India, Sunny would like to shed her nude adult porn star image and do main line Bollywood cinema. Sunny wants to try her hand at Hindi movies not nudity and flesh show. She has had enough of all that. Bollywood films has always been Sunny’s dream as a kid growing up in Canada. She always wanted to be some sort of a Madhuri Dixit in Bollywood, but fate took her elsewhere. Now given a chance, she would like to make her dream come true,” a close aide of Sunny Leone told Flynn Remedios, editor of MumbaiWire.in.

Even Sunny Leone was quoted to an Indian friend saying, “If I want to do nude and stuff, there is enough scope for me in Hollywood. As such the Indian Censor Board will not allow any nudity.” Given Indian laws on nudity and obscentity and the long-drawn out judicial and legal system in India, Sunny Leone’s international managers and advisors are skeptical of the adult actress’ foray into Indian cinema. They are worried about her having to spend her time doing the rounds of Indian court rooms instead of studios. An associate of Sunny Leone’s US agent who spoke to Flynn Remedios, said, “It’s nice that Indian producers are offering Sunny Bollywood films, but we hope she is not offered only nude roles. The legal system in India is very tiring and we are worried about Sunny having to make trips to Indian courts, should her images in an Indian film offend the sensibilities of a certain segment of Indian viewers.”

Sunny Leone is a known name in Hollywood and has contracts with some of the top adult entertainment TV channels and adult home video brands. The money that porn stars make abroad is something she will not get in India even for a main lead in a Bollywood film, keeping in mind the time she will have to spend on shooting and promotions.  The reception that an adult porn star would get from the general Indian public is also playing on Sunny’s mind. Right now she is safely esconsed in a 5-star hotel with a lot of security. But shooting outside is an all-together different story. Sunny’s managers are also worried about the moral police in India. “There is a different India that doesn’t ‘like’ Sunny Leone and will try to make trouble for us. We are taking all this into consideration before saying yes or no,” Sunny’s aide said.

Friends of Sunny Leone also opined that the Bhatt’s were casting Sunny only for the ‘automatic and free’ publicity that the project would get due to a high-profile and controversial international actor. A canandian friend who has worked with Sunny felt that “Mahesh Bhatt has offered Sunny Leone the role not because he is particularly thrilled with her acting abilities or because he genuinely wants to give her a foothold in Bollywood. He is doing it only to promote his film for free.”

Umair Zafar designs TV star Deepshika’s wedding trousseau

Mumbai-based, well-known fashion designer Umair Zafar has designed TV star Deepshika’s wedding trousseau including a special engagement gown designed in a Christian style. Deepshika will marry Keshav Arora on 19^th January 2012 at a plush wedding ceremony. The engagement and other traditional ceremonies will be on 18^th January as first reported by Futuristic Media Network two months ago. We didn’t want to disturb Deepshika who was very busy with her last minute wedding arrangements, but Keshav Arora said Deepshika looks beautiful in anything that she wears. However Keshav admitted that he is waiting to see his bride-to-be in her bridal finery. Here’s wishing our ‘good friends’ Deepshika and Keshav many many years of marital bliss.

Umair Zafar refused to speak to us about Deepshika’s trousseau citing that it was his client’s special day and he will not give away any details. He directed us to Deepshika saying, “Please talk to her. I cannot give any details to the press about my client’s plans.”

However a little birdie told us, “With a strong background of craftsmanship, Umair has designed a Christian wedding gown for Deepshika’s wedding ceremony. The gown is made of creamish-coloured gold bridal satin with a self velvet floral design on the neckline with highlighted Swaroski work all over. The gown is layers with very subtle shimmery net to give a bridal look and has a tail like that in the regal era.” We even have a photograph of Deepshika’s gown, but we will not release it as we do not want to spoil the surprise element for one of our favourite Tv stars.

There are many others, but celebs are very secretive about the source of their clothing and at least another ten of Umair’s clients requested us not to mention names. But they all said they loved Umair’s clothing.

One of Umair’s celebrity clientele who didn’t want to be quotes officially said, “Actors prefer their personal clothing from Umair Zafar as they feel he is well conversant and has a good technical understanding of fashion, styles and trends, fabric and handiwork. 

Mamta Sharma (of Munni Badmaan Hui fame) is the latest to join the list of Umair’s clientele and get her outfits designed by the ace fashion designer.

Hospitality industry veterans applaud Michael Mascha’s Fine Water Seminar in Mumbai

The hospitality industry in Mumbai turned up in full strength on Saturday at the Oyster Room at Sahara Star to listen to international fine water expert and author Michael Mascha’s seminar on Gourmet and Organic Waters. Mascha who has toured the world and boasts of a collection of over 1000 fine waters is an author, water sommelier and an expert on water bars. He has helped set up water bars in some of the most exquisite and exclusive restaurants in the world spread over the seven continents.

Mumbai was privileged to hear him speak at a seminar organized by Naveen Luthra CEO of Mulshi Springs – India’s only 100 per cent pesticide free natural spring water which is the only Asian water to be exported to France and the European Union. Other speakers at the seminar included organic foods evangelist Kavita Mukhi who spoke about the benefits of natural, organic water, Mushtaq Rauf of Mulshi Springs and mixologist Shatbi Basu who conducted a practical session on water and whiskey mixing for the guests.

Actor Deepak Parashar ‘cured’ after drinking organic Mulshi Springs natural spring water

Actor Deepak Parashar was out of action for the last two months. He had put on extra weight and was feeling tired and weak most of the time. Medical tests could not reveal any specific or particular ailment but the reports were “border line” in all the tests conducted.
